What are beneficial microbes?

Adding beneficial microbes to your pond's ecosystem to remove nutrients and reduce the muck is the latest development in pond management. Beneficial microbial formulations are a combination of specific microbes that target phosophorus, ammonia, nitrites, nitrate and organic sludges. In most situations, these non-pathogenic microorganisms are already present, but at low levels. Adding these at very high quantities helps to rapidly reduce the nutrient levels through accelerated microbial decomposition.

Scientific research has documented that these concentrated microbes will out compete all other sources, especially plants and algae, for all the available nutrients in your pond. They will not only improve the water clarity, but also reduce the muck on the bottom. Beneficial microbes can actually reverse the euthrophication or aging process.
